Digital Modeling
Shelly ZhangA prelude to a proper Class A surfacing portfolio, this page contains heretofor produced and documented hard surface/Alias/3d Design work. Current status: I am familiar with Maya and ZBrush and am in the process of learning Alias surfaceing.
Portfolio write-up:
- Content: I think the 1970 Ford Torino Cobra 429 Super Cobra Jet would be an interesting next project as it’s quite different visually from the Citroen. It would be very cool if I could model it efficiently.
- Goals: better work overall which is possible with more practice/experience.
- Examples: Most portfolios I’ve seen have been on platforms such as Behance or are slide decks but I have a website already so I’ve mocked up a page here. I’m really impressed with Augusto Fuchs’ portfolio and hope to emulate that.
- Format: overal page laid out as is with one long “chapter” (multiple slide decks) per project
- Chapters: Process explanation and reference images; Zebra, wireframe, highlight, and final hero renders
- Interim Plans: Having some smaller work that I feel good about such as the desk lamp as the last section which would replace the random modeling sections I currently have. I’ve been looking at E-bikes/Mopeds as possible projects for the summer as well as handles or mirrors.
- Next Semester: I will be traveling in the Fall so Winter would be the earliest I can take DM IV but I plan to work on my own until then.
